Christmas Edition newsletter
December 2006
Firstly I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a safe Holiday season.

Secondly I want to thank all of you for making WFCA the success it has been in such a short period of time. Special thanks go to Ali Carter, Fran Caratti, Monica Lahra, Loretta Nasa, Joyce Low, Alex Duchen, Marilyn Boyer, Jacqueline Caponas, Nicole Lewis and Natalie Penn, as well as everyone else that has helped spread the word and support WFCA. Without all your support we would not have had such a wonderful evening on November 30th, and we would not be the ongoing alliance that we are.
I am making this a very short newsletter, however I would like to focus on a couple of thoughts. Firstly Australia’s consciousness continues to be awakened and aroused through ongoing media support. So I would urge you all to remember that the single most important thing we can do is switch to accredited green power. See
http://www.greenpower.gov.au/pages/Home-Who-Sells.php and www.greenelectricitywatch.org.au for further information. I look forward to confirming how many members have switched in 2007, so they can receive their Dinosaur Designs Green Footprint Keying. I will also attach an excellent efficiency piece from the weekend Herald that offers some simple yet very effective energy saving tips. As well as switching to Green accredited power we must all seek to reduce our energy consumption. WFCA’s presentation on this topic will be available in the New Year.

I also want to draw everyone’s attention to Earth Hour, www.earthhour.org . This initiative was launched by The WWF in conjunction with The Fairfax Group, Clover Moore and the State Government to switch off all non essential lights i.e. street lights for one hour on March 31st from 7.30-8.30pm across Sydney. Earth Hour has received excellent press coverage and WFCA will be a major supporter and advocate for this initiative. I have also had the opportunity to meet the inspiring young women Sarah Bishop who will walk from Brisbane to Sydney, arriving on Earth Hour day to raise awareness of Climate Change and the solutions.
Some photos have also been attached from November 30th, our Inaugural Drinks.

Wishing you all a very Happy Festive Season. Looking forward to an exciting and active 2007. Remember we all can make a difference, but together we can move mountains.
