About Green Energy
GreenPowerTM is a national accreditation program, for further information please see greenpower.gov.au/downloads/NARE_factsheet.pdf and it is a programme that ensures consumers are receiving the green energy they are subscribing to. We recommend that consumers select the 100% accredited green energy option to ensure that the development of our nascent renewables energy sector. As our government has not been driven to support the renewable energy sector and renewable energy is currently more expensive to produce, thus it is vital that we the consumer select this option and creates the demand. Increased demand will drive increased investment in the renewable energy sector, which will in turn result in a lowering in the cost of green energy to the community. The current price differential purely reflects the higher cost of renewable energy over fossil fuel (coal) energy as the investment has not taken place on a large scale to bring the economies of scale to the market.
What is it and Why is it so Important
Green energy is the alternative energy source to the traditional option – fossil fuel based energy, notably coal, oil and gas. Green energy refers to electricity which is sourced from environmentally-friendly renewable resources such as solar (photovoltaic), wind, landfills and biomass. Theses sources can provide energy without the greenhouse gas emissions and they can be distributed through the national electricity network.
Electricity sourced from renewable resources helps reduce the amount of greenhouse emissions released into the atmosphere by electricity use. If you run your household on 100% accredited new Green Power, then your output of greenhouse gases is considered to be carbon neutral as you are paying for renewable energy to be fed into the grid to replace the fossil fuel electricity you use. By not making the switch the power you draw from the grid will be replaced with polluting fossil fuel power. If all Australian households were to switch to green energy tomorrow we would decrease our CO2 emissions by 30%.

Given that on average each home releases 7-8 tonnes of CO2 each year from the electricity that is supplied from fossil fuel sources, wouldn't be better to know that your were saving our planet from climate change and not emitting those harmful gases. Go Green switch to Renewables Now.
